Artist's Description

Old Drug Store signs like these can still be found in some small American cities and towns. Most have long since closed their doors, push out of business by so called progress. Shrinking community populations or urbanization, have caused the loss of the "Family Pharmacist". Fountains, cosmetics and sage advice are all gone, replace by the sterile worlds of neon lit 7-11's, malls and big box stores. This sign still hangs on the less traveled main street of old downtown Murray, Utah. The Vincent Drug store sign still hangs, the last vestige and the proud reminder of a solo proprietor business model, the subtle advertizement of a fading American way of life. I am saddened to see these decaying remnants of days gone by and feel a need to photograph all that I can discover. For me, I can remember places like this. One day my mother sat me down in a swivel chair on the customer side of a long fountain counter, in her small Oklahoma towns drug store, where many a hamburger, fries and s...
