Description
Tools of a long lost trade, an important member of most communities; tools of the blacksmith or smithy. This craftsman did more than shod horses, a craftsman skilled at fabrication and of repair, his day was laborious; filled with heat and smoke, ringing hammer and red hot iron, sweat dripping from the brow. There was a day when many items were made of iron, not plastic, they were made to last, it was not to be said of the blacksmith.

Steven, such an interesting point of view, and unusual macro shot. I appreciate the focus on wear and rust in this composition which becomes almost architectural in its design. Nicely done! voted

This is cool Steve. We used to live in the little (600 or so) town of Protection Kansas. There was a blacksmith there that could make doggone near anything you could ask for. I loved going to his shop. You really got a handle on the fact that these tools have been used, and used hard. Just like anything else, they have a story. Wouldn't it be great to sit around the black smiths fire and hear a few of them? f/v
Steven Milner replied:
