Steven, such an interesting point of view, and unusual macro shot. I appreciate the focus on wear and rust in this composition which becomes almost architectural in its design. Nicely done! voted

Steven Milner replied:

Greetings Cheri; I am honored and humbled by your thoughtful comments, thank you Cheri for your continued support and vote!!! Warm Regards - steve

This is cool Steve. We used to live in the little (600 or so) town of Protection Kansas. There was a blacksmith there that could make doggone near anything you could ask for. I loved going to his shop. You really got a handle on the fact that these tools have been used, and used hard. Just like anything else, they have a story. Wouldn't it be great to sit around the black smiths fire and hear a few of them? f/v

Steven Milner replied:

Greetings Don; I totally agree, what great images could be capture from a day with a working Blacksmith!!! Thank you Don for being the first to post your, always thoughtful and interesting comments!!! For your fave and vote, I am always honored and humbled!!! Warm Regards - steve

Artist's Description

Tools of a long lost trade, an important member of most communities; tools of the blacksmith or smithy. This craftsman did more than shod horses, a craftsman skilled at fabrication and of repair, his day was laborious; filled with heat and smoke, ringing hammer and red hot iron, sweat dripping from the brow. There was a day when many items were made of iron, not plastic, they were made to last, it was not to be said of the blacksmith.
